I’m the creator behind Schoolhouse Engage and a current 5th grade teacher in Southern California. I help educators and homeschool families take the guess work out of figuring out how to create fun and engaging lessons that result in true learning.
Teaching can be a fun and rewarding journey, but it is also hard and demanding. I’m here to guide you with tips to take the stress out of teaching and lessons that foster learning. I believe all children can learn with the right support and encouragement, and I’m excited to share my ideas with you.
About Schoolhouse Engage
I started Schoolhouse Engage in 2021 after a year of distance learning due to Covid. When I returned back to the classroom I needed something new to refuel my passion for teaching.
That year my district did not adopt a Social Studies curriculum and I truly had nothing to use to teach my lessons. So I started to create Readers Theater based on Social Studies subjects and shared them along with other resources on Teachers Pay Teachers. I now have over 150 items that I sell to help educators teach Math, Social Studies, Science, and ELD.
Education and Work Experience
I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a BA in Spanish and I have a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Chapman University. I also have a Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) credential.
My journey as an educator began in 1999 when I first started teaching 3rd grade in a transitional bilingual classroom. Since then I have been a Title 1 Bilingual Resource Teacher supporting English Learners and teachers. I currently teach 5th grade at a Title 1 school and I am trained in Thinking Maps, Language and Literacy Routines, Reading and Literature Project and Irvine Math Project. You can get a peak of my day-to-day instruction by following me on Instagram. I am passionate about teaching and I love being an educator!
