My Story

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there! My name is Giselle and I am the creator behind Schoolhouse Engage. I am a 5th-grade teacher in Southern California at a Title 1 school. My journey as an educator began when I first started teaching 3rd grade in 1999 in a transitional bilingual classroom! Since then I have been a Title 1 Bilingual Resource teacher supporting English Learners and teachers, but teaching 5th grade has been my favorite position.

Working in an inner-city school has taught me how to provide interventions and scaffolds for students who have academic needs. I work in a multilingual community and I strive to honor students’ heritage in the classroom. Teaching diverse students is a demanding task and I am here to help teachers make their lives easier. It can be overwhelming and just, darn hard! I get it! But at the same time, it is rewarding and incredibly empowering! My passion for instruction and curriculum is at the heart of my resources.

I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a BA in Spanish and I have a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Chapman University. I also have a Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) credential.
